Timothy J. Ryan, MD

Born and raised in Geneva, N.Y., Dr. Ryan graduated magna cum laude from Hobart College. After earning a bachelor of medicine degree at Dartmouth Medical School, he went on to receive his medical doctorate from the University of Minnesota. His family practice residency was completed at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y. where he served as chief resident. He has been a diplomat of the American Academy of Family Physicians for more than 30 years.

The founder of LIFECARE, Dr. Ryan has been serving the medical needs of Seneca County since 1979. He has devoted much of his time to medical education, earning the title of "New York State Family Practice Educator of the Year". He presently is an associate clinical professor in the Department of Family Medicine at both the SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse and the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Dr. Ryan is proud to be one of the charter preceptors for the nationally acclaimed SUNY Rural Medicine Education Program. He is also the founder of the annual LIFECARE conference which has provided continuing medical education for the health professionals of the Finger Lakes area for the last 20 years.

As a member of the medical community, he serves as the medical director for the local school systems, the Seneca County Department of Health, and Seneca Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility. He is the former chairman of the Finger Lakes Regional Health system's department of family medicine, and the former president of the Seneca County Medical Society.

Dr. Ryan has an avid commitment to his community. He is a past president of the Geneva Scholarship Associates and a past member of the American Cancer Society. He has been a Rotarian since 1979, serving as president in 1991. During his membership, he has been instrumental in initiating such programs as the first fire safety trailer in the Finger Lakes and the annual Rotary Health Fair. He has been honored by the Rotary Foundation for his continued support of "Polio Plus", Rotary's international effort to eliminate polio from the world.

Dr. Ryan specializes in all aspects of family medicine including pediatrics and geriatrics. He is also an occupational health certified medical review officer.
